Charles S. Pearson, Ph.D.

Charles (Chuck) S. Pearson, Ph.D. is a mentor and Coordinator of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment for the M.A.T. program. He received his B.S. in Elementary Education, his M.A. in Science Education and his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, K-12 Administration from Western Michigan University.

Cheryl L. Barnes

Cheryl L. Barnes

Cheryl L. Barnes has been a Mentor, a Mentor Advisor Assistant and a Mentor Advisor at Marygrove since 2000. She earned a B.A. from Eastern Michigan University and a Master in the Art of Teaching Degree from Marygrove College in 1998.

Diane S. Brown, Ph.D.

Diane S. Brown, Ph.D.

Diane S. Brown, Ph.D. was appointed the Coordinator for the Academic Department of Marygrove College’s Master in the Art of Teaching program in 2007 and the Director in 2010. Brown’s research interests include student-teacher interactions in the online environment and the use of Currere as a method to retain experienced teachers in the profession.

Kathleen M. Ader

Kathleen M. Ader

Kathleen M. Ader has been a virtual mentor for M.S. in Education, elementary mathematics at Marygrove College since 2008. She received a B.A. from Eastern Michigan University, a Master in the Art of Teaching from Marygrove College and a Master of Science in Education from Walden University. Her certifications include a Michigan State Secondary Provisional Certificate in Biology (DA), Chemistry (DC), and Mathematics (EX). She also holds a certification in biology from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.

In addition to mentoring at Marygrove, Ader has over a decade of experience as a curriculum developer and teacher.  

Keneth M. Williams, Ph.D

Keneth M. Williams, Ph.D

Keneth M. Williams, Ph.D is an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Marygrove College, and has been Coordinator of Mathematics Programs since 1998. He received his B.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree from Oakland University.

Teresa Furlong

Teresa Furlong has been a Mentor Advisor and Adjunct Instructor in Marygrove’s M.A.T. program since 1997. She received her B.S. in Cognitive Impairment from Northern Michigan University, her M.S. in Administration, Educational Leadership from Madonna University and her master’s plus 30 in Professional Learning Systems from Marygrove College.

Tim Brooks

Tim Brooks

Tim Brooks has been a mentor for Marygrove’s M.A.T. program since 2002. He received his B.S in Education from Wayne State University, and his M.A. in Education from Eastern Michigan University.

Brooks has over 35 years of experience in education, teaching Economics, Modern American History, Visual Arts, and Auto Body Repair.  He has also written curriculum for various courses in these areas, and served as an elected officer in local, state, and national education associations. He is a recipient of numerous awards including the “Outstanding Program” and World War II Veterans Recognition Project award from both the Michigan House of Representatives and the Michigan Education Association.

Vivian Johnson

Vivian Johnson

Dr. Vivian G. Johnson, Coordinator of Graduate Reading Programs—including the MAT in Reading K-6—has been a professor at Marygrove College since 1999. She received a Ph.D. in Reading & Language Arts/Minor in Children’s Literature from Oakland University in Rochester, MI where she also earned an M.A.T. Dr. Johnson also holds an M.S. in Mental Health from Georgia State University and a B.S. in Sociology/Social Work from Georgia Southern University.
